St. Märgen

You´ll find the nice village on a plateau between the Kandel and the Feldberg mountains.

This picturesque spot where just everyone feels good is most famous for the baroque monastery church with its two towers (1723).

In St. Märgen, culture and traditional customs are still alive. This village is the ideal holiday resort for families, for active people or those who are more interested in leisure time and well-being.
You can visit the Monastery Museum, the Nordic-Activities-Centre or take part in the numerous festivities celebrated in honour of the “Schwarzwälder Fuchs”

(a cold-blooded horse very typical for this region).
St. Märgen offers well-tended and well-marked pathes for hiking or mountainbiking, a natural mountain lake for swimming, various winter sports facilities and a great number of famous hotels and restaurants.
This Black Forest village will certainly meet all your expectations!

St. Märgen (1950 inhabitants, 800 to 1100 m above sea level) is 30 km to the east of Freiburg in the Upper Black Forest.
